Acting-for-the-Camera Shakespeare - Workshop Fall, 2017 at LTV
September 27, 2017 – East Hampton, N.Y. – Round Table Theatre Company & Academy and LTV are announcing another partnership, a workshop Shakespeare on Film – Acting for the Camera taught by Tristan and Morgan Vaughan for ages 16 – adult.
This class is intended for seasoned and beginning actors alike. Students will learn basic acting-for-the-camera technique and hone audition and acting skills through Shakespeare monologues. These monologues and short scenes will be geared toward age and experience. Taught by Shakespearean actors Tristan Vaughan and Morgan Vaughan of Round Table Theatre Company (Hamlet, Macbeth), this workshop will end with a Showcase for invited guests, and students will receive a digital copy of their work to keep or use as a reel.
“This class is for anyone interested in on-camera work; no one should be intimidated by this class,” said Morgan Vaughan. “We will meet individual students at their comfort-level and expertise. There is always something to be learned by everyone for everyone. It is also an excellent way for anyone applying to grad school to get a digital copy of their Shakespeare monologue.”
The workshops will meet Thursdays, October 12 through November 16 from 7 – 9pm at LTV, 75 Industrial Road, Wainscott. The final class will be a showcase of the students’ filmed work for family, friends, and invited guests. Cost is $250 for the 6-week course, including a digital copy of the student’s final reel. The final workshop will also be broadcast on LTV Channel 20.
LTV and Round Table first collaborated in 2015 with a production of Macbeth using both professional actors from DC and New York and local professional and aspiring actors. Now, with Morgan Vaughan acting as Executive Director of LTV, it seemed like a natural fit for the Station.
Anyone interested in joining the class, or finding out more about it, should email morgan@ltveh.org or call 631.537.2777, ext. 112.

“Most people have a troubled relationship with Shakespeare, charmed by the ubiquitous famous quotes but intimidated by the prospect of trying to absorb 2 hours of rapid-fire Elizabethan dialogue and a convoluted plot. Since my schooldays in Wales, where Richard II (Dickey Two Strokes to us), Macbeth and Julius Caesar were matters of study, I have had a simmering interest, fueled by some great movies and plays, but nothing more. Quite by chance I enrolled in Tristan and Morgan Vaughan's Speaking Shakespeare workshops. As a result a wonderful transformation occurred in my understanding and performance of the Bard and his works. It drew me to immerse myself in the fascinating Elizabethan era and thereby get a greater understanding of our own world to-day. In addition, my aging gray cells were considerably perked-up with learning, and reciting, Sonnets, John of Gaunt, Father Sebastian, King Lear and any other gray-beard available. At first I completely panicked at the prospect but the patient, inspired and experienced professionalism of these two young talents took it, and me, to another level. ‘Methinks I am a prophet new inspired, And thus expiring do proclaim of them, Their bright, true flame of inspiration shall prevail....’”
